JOB DESCRIPTION

DIRECTOR OF ADVANCEMENT

Reports to: Head of School

The Director of Advancement is responsible for identifying, nurturing, and sustaining friends of the school who will share their resources with Westminster so that the school is equipped to achieve its mission. The Director of Advancement will oversee the advancement team, which may consist of staff members and volunteers who manage the annual fund, alumni relations, capital fundraising, major gifts, planned giving, and events.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop a vision and a plan to create a culture of philanthropy in the Westminster community
  • Design a comprehensive advancement and fund development plan and program with strategic initiatives that are consistent with the school’s vision, mission, values, and strategic plan, all contributing to the financial sustainability of the
  • Oversee all aspects of donor
  • Oversee and develop all fundraising campaigns including the annual fund campaign and capital campaigns.
  • Cultivate major donors and prospects in collaboration with the head of school, board members, and other key
  • Oversee the coordination of all major gift
  • Collaborate and communicate with board members and the advancement committee to set and achieve fund advancement
  • Oversee staff members and volunteers assigned to develop events which serve advancement goals.
  • Collaborate and communicate with parent organization leaders and parent volunteers in advancement-related
  • Collaborate with communications office in developing effective fundraising appeals, annual reports, and other materials which serve advancement
  • Oversee the development of a strong alumni
  • Manage prospect research and cultivation
  • Develop a planned giving program which includes goals and outcomes that connect to growing

the school’s endowment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s Degree is
  • Experience in various aspects of advancement and development such as annual giving, major gift solicitation, capital campaign leadership, alumni relations, and planned giving is a
  • Experience in independent school or faith-based nonprofit fundraising is
  • Active member in a Protestant church whose doctrine is consistent with Westminster Christian

School’s Statement of Belief.

Westminster is seeking a dynamic, professional, and ambitious Director of Advancement to join our growing school during its exciting 60-year anniversary. The Director will join an outstanding team of senior leaders and be involved in a school that is thriving in every way. The Director of Advancement will partner with existing staff and develop a comprehensive advancement plan and build an advancement office well-equipped to fulfill the plan and achieve advancement goals that will develop a culture of philanthropy.

Westminster has a consistently growing annual fund campaign that is supported by the board, staff, and current parents, and has the potential to grow significantly by engaging alumni and alumni parents. The Director of Advancement will leverage strong relationships with alumni to further expand and develop the alumni network. The opportunities to develop a planned giving program at Westminster are exciting. The school has conducted a few small capital campaigns throughout its history, and there are significant opportunities for developing noteworthy capital campaigns in the next few years to support several large building projects in the middle school, high school, and athletic program.
